RICHARD ARMENDARIZ
Richard Armendariz was raised in El Paso along the US-Mexico border, a region that heavily influenced his artistic, aesthetic, and conceptual ideas. Images that have cultural, biographical, and art-historical references are carved and burned into the surface of his paintings and drawings. He has exhibited at the Denver Art Museum, the Dallas Con- temporary, the Blue Star Art Center in San Antonio, Mexic-Arte Museum in Austin, and internationally in Tel Aviv, Israel; Berlin, Germany; DF, Mexico; Lima, Peru; and New Delhi, India. At the Centennial Museum and Chihuahuan Desert Gardens, he was instrumental in the exhibits Where the World Met the Border: El Paso’s First Ward and Uncaged Art: Tornillo Children’s Detention Camp.
