Delilah Montoya was born in Texas and raised in the Midwest. Her longtime place of residence is New Mexico. Montoya’s work is grounded in the mestizo experience of the Southwest and borderlands. Her work explores the unusual relationships that result from negotiating different ways of viewing, conceptualizing, representing, and consuming the worlds found in the Southwest. Her work has been exhibited throughout New Mexico. She is a professor at the University of Texas at Houston.
